Honor the God of our Fathers. Vote!
We are swiftly approaching the time when our nation will elect its president and vice president for the next four years, as well as our House of Congress. As we must prepare this issue months in advance, we cannot even presume to know even a week in advance what might transpire in these turbulent times. Any number of things could occur that could have a profound impact on the "pyche" of the people and on the course of our national future. Voters are fickle, and when you add to the equation the “fear factor” of terrorism, economic disruptions, as well as the demonic influences of evil which hate a righteous cause, you never know what people will do, or how they will react to any given circumstance.
But the people of God are not subject to such uncertainty and futility! Ours is a clear-cut choice:
We must honot the God of our fathers! We must protect the legacy of godliness that they espoused when they founded this nation on Biblical principles and Christian teachings. To do otherwise is to commit national suicide.
This is exactly what Israel did after the glorious golden age of David and Solomon, and the nation was split into two kingdoms, which was the beginning of the end. Israel declined rapidly in her rebellion and went into captivity. A century and a half later, her sister, Judah, also went into captivity, scattering the nation for over 2,000 years! The warnings were immediate and ample, but were sadly unheeded:
"...O Children of Israel, fight ye not against the Lord God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper" (2 Chron. 13:12).
Israel, in rebellion against the commandments of the Lord, fell into the hands of the still righteous Judah: "...And the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the Lord God of their fathers" (vs. 18).
Judah managed to avoid captivity, because they "entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul:....And He was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about" (2 Chron. 15:12 & 15).
We Must Not Forsake the God of our Fathers!
Our nation is becoming more divided over moral issues everyday: Infanticide (a.k.a. "abortion"), homosexual marriages, and the erosion of all mention of God in the public arena, including the 10 Commandments and the words "under God" from our pledge of allegiance.
This very week a homosexual couple in Florida filed a lawsuit against the FEDERAL (not the STATE) government to overturn the "Defense of Marriage" Act as unconstitutional. This is why we must pass a constitional amendment to protect marriage as "a union between a man and a woman"! But the Senate voted against it in spite of the fact that the majority of Americans are against homosexual marriages.
How is it that a mere 2% of the population (homosexuals) can dictate to the rest of us to demand homosexual marriage?
It's because not enough of us who "honor the God of our fathers" are voting for what we believe in and who supports what we believe!
It's time to not only pray, but to VOTE! In the last election, only 24% of evangelical Christians voted! But it's not too late to stand up and let your voices be heard in this election! I urge you to register if you haven't already. Educate yourself about the presidential candidates and your local congressmen. Find out who is for and who is against these crucial issues: How can we honor the God of our fathers, and vote for homosexuality, infanticide, and the stripping of His Holy Word from all of our national heritage?
We can't, and unless we prefer to vote for our pocketbooks and materialistic creature comforts, we won't! This is not about what "political persuasion" you register with, it's about moral convictions and whether we will vote our conscience.
Space does not allow me to quote numerous inspiring words of our founding fathers and great patriots, but I will share these from Dwight Eisenhower, decorated WWII general and our 34th president:
"America is the greatest force that God has ever allowed to exist on His footstool.... The spiritual fiber of a nation is more important than its wealth.... Our American heritage is as much threatened by our own indifference as it is by the most unscrupulous office seeker, or by the most sinister foreign threat. The destiny of this Republic is in the hands of its voters." |
